SIV/Iraqi & Syrian P-2/Afghan Referrals

Certain categories of U.S.-affiliated Afghan and Iraqi nationals may be eligible for the Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) program. In addition, certain categories of Afghan, Iraqi, and Syrian nationals are eligible for entry through various Priority 2 (P-2) Pre-defined Group Access or Direct Access Programs. For information on eligibility for these programs, and instructions on how eligible individuals can apply for admission to the U.S. through one of these programs, please consult the resources below.

U.S. REFUGEE ADMISSIONS PROGRAM INSTRUCTIONS FOR AFGHAN REFERRALS

Certain Afghans who do not meet the minimum time-in-service for an SIV, but who work/worked in some capacity for the U.S. Government, U.S. government-funded programs or projects in Afghanistan supported through a U.S. government grant or cooperative agreement, U.S.-based non-governmental organizations, or U.S.-based media organizations may be eligible for admission through the P-2 Pre-defined Group Access Program for Afghan Nationals. Eligible Afghan nationals may not self-refer but must be referred by a relevant American citizen. Please find instructions for eligible applicants and referrers below:


U.S. Refugee Admissions Program for Iraqi and Syrian Refugees

Certain Iraqi and Syrian nationals may be eligible for resettlement to the United States under one of several programs. The P-2 Direct Access Program for U.S.-affiliated Iraqis, including employees of the U.S. government, government-funded programs, or projects in Iraq supported through a U.S. government grant or cooperative agreement, U.S.-based media or nongovernment organizations, and direct family members. Separately, the P-2 Direct Access Program for Iraqi and Syrian beneficiaries of Form I-130 (Petition for Alien Relative) is an avenue for Iraqis and Syrians to apply for refugee resettlement in the United States through the USRAP. It is available to approved I-130 beneficiaries of Iraqi or Syrian nationality and their spouses or unmarried children under 21. Special Immigrant Visa Program for Afghan and Iraqi Nationals

The Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) program is a pathway for immigration to the United States available to certain categories of U.S.-affiliated Afghan and Iraqi nationals. This includes Afghan and Iraqi translators/interpreters who worked with the U.S. Armed Forces or under Chief of Mission authority, or Afghan and Iraqi nationals employed by/on behalf of the U.S. Government.
